Can I change the Microsoft Bookings page title or preview?

“Can I set the page title, meta description or link preview image of a Microsoft Bookings page?”
Asked in Reddit (opens in a new tab), Microsoft Learn (opens in a new tab) and Microsoft Learn (opens in a new tab)
Short answer
No. As of October 2026 Microsoft controls the title, description and link preview of a Bookings page, and you can't edit any of them. The HTML Microsoft serves for every shared booking page has the title "Bookings", a noindex, nofollow robots tag and no description or Open Graph tags, so chat and social apps show a generic card with no image. Your business name appears in the browser tab only after the page loads. To control the title, description and preview image, embed the booking page on a page of your own site and share that page's address.
What a Bookings page actually serves#
Shared booking links now redirect to Microsoft's newer domain. A link such as https://outlook.office.com/book/SalesTeam@contoso.com/ answers with a 302 redirect to https://bookings.cloud.microsoft/book/SalesTeam@contoso.com/, part of the move of Microsoft 365 apps to the cloud.microsoft domain. Older /owa/calendar/.../bookings/ links redirect to /book/ first. Whichever link you share, visitors and crawlers end up on Microsoft's host.
We fetched a live shared booking page in October 2026 as a browser and as the Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and Google crawlers. Every request got the same small page shell, and an address with no booking page behind it got the same shell as well:
| First HTML response (what preview tools and crawlers read) | After the page's script runs (what visitors see) | |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Bookings | Your business name |
| Meta description | None | None |
| Open Graph / Twitter tags | None | None |
| Robots | noindex, nofollow | — |
| Logo | Not in the HTML | Shown if the logo display setting is on |
Link preview tools generally don't run JavaScript. They read the title and the og: tags in that first response. The Open Graph protocol needs og:title, og:type, og:image and og:url to build a card, and none of them are there. So the business name and logo you set never reach the preview. Personal "Bookings with me" pages work the same way, with a generic shell titled "Book With Me".
The tab title isn't always reliable either. In 2025 an admin on r/Office365 created three identical pages and found that some showed "Booking - -" in the tab instead of the page name, and renaming a page changed which ones did. The poster found no attribute in Entra or Exchange that controls it, nobody replied with a fix, and Bookings itself has no title setting.
Search engines#
On the shared page's Booking page settings, under booking page access control, Microsoft offers Disable direct search engine indexing of booking page. Microsoft says it "prevents your page from appearing in the search results for Google, Bing, or other search engines". In our check the served HTML already carried noindex, nofollow, so tick the box if you want to be explicit, but don't expect unticking it to make the page rank.
The page also can't sit on your own domain. The Bookings custom domain support only changes the domain in the booking mailbox address, and only for pages created after an admin sets the policy. The page itself is still served from Microsoft's host. See changing the Bookings page URL or domain.
What you can change natively#
- Business name. In Bookings, open the shared booking page, select Business information, open Basic details, edit Business name and select Save. This is the heading on the page, the browser tab title once the page loads, and the name Microsoft uses in its emails. It doesn't change the URL, which comes from the mailbox address, or the preview card.
- Logo and colour theme. Upload the logo under Business information, then switch it on under Booking page → Customize your page. These change the page, not the preview. Details in adding your logo and colours.
- The words around the link. In emails and signatures, use descriptive link text ("Book a 30-minute review") rather than the raw address. In social posts, many apps let you remove the generated card. Post your own image with the link instead.
Get your own title and preview: embed it on your site#
The dependable fix is a page on your domain, such as contoso.com/book, with the booking page embedded in it. Your page's head tags then decide the title, search snippet and preview, and you share your address instead of Microsoft's.
<head>
<title>Book a consultation | Contoso</title>
<meta name="description" content="Pick a time for a free 30-minute consultation with our advisers.">
<link rel="canonical" href="https://contoso.com/book">
<meta property="og:type" content="website">
<meta property="og:title" content="Book a consultation with Contoso">
<meta property="og:description" content="Pick a time that suits you. Online or in person.">
<meta property="og:url" content="https://contoso.com/book">
<meta property="og:image" content="https://contoso.com/images/book-card.png">
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image">
</head>
<body>
<h1>Book a consultation</h1>
<p>Choose a service and a time. You'll get a confirmation email straight away.</p>
<iframe src="https://outlook.office.com/book/SalesTeam@contoso.com/"
width="100%" height="1000" style="border:0" title="Book an appointment"></iframe>
</body>Copy the real embed code from the Booking page settings (see where to find the Bookings embed code). A few points:
- Search engines rank your page on its own text. What's inside the frame is Microsoft's document, served with
noindex, so write a short intro, what to expect and your cancellation policy on your page. - A preview image around 1200 × 630 pixels suits most apps.
- The frame needs a fixed height and anonymous booking turned on. If it's cut off or blank, see iframe height on mobile and refused to connect.
Redirects and short links#
A plain redirect from contoso.com/book to the Microsoft link is still worth having for print, QR codes and memorable links. It won't change the preview: preview tools follow 301 and 302 redirects and read the final page, which is Microsoft's "Bookings" shell.
A page on your domain that returns its own HTML with Open Graph tags and then forwards the visitor (by meta refresh or script) usually does get your card, because most preview tools read the first page's tags. It's less predictable than an embed: some tools follow meta refresh, and Facebook treats og:url as the canonical address, so set it to your own URL, never the Microsoft one. Search engines treat a meta refresh as a redirect, so this page won't rank either. Test any setup with Facebook's Sharing Debugger and LinkedIn's Post Inspector. Both also clear the cached preview after you change tags.
Doing this with BookingsXP#
A BookingsXP hosted page at bookingsxp.com/book/<your-name> is available on every plan. Each page has its own search title and description (the default title is "Book with" followed by your name), a canonical URL, and Open Graph and Twitter card tags. The preview image is the cover image if you use the Cover layout (Pro), otherwise your profile photo, otherwise your logo. Hosted pages stay out of search engines by default. Turn indexing on per page, or for every page under workspace defaults, and the page is added to the sitemap. Layouts, photo and search fields are covered in profile and page design. Custom domains aren't offered: the hosted page is on our domain, not yours. For your own domain, embed the widget on your page and your page's tags apply. Bookings are still created in Microsoft Bookings, and Microsoft's emails don't change. See pricing for plan details. BookingsXP is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft.
